PRINCE GEORGE — The BC River Forecast Centre has issued a number of high streamflow advisories for the area as the forecast calls for rain and possibly thunderstorms across the province.

The high streamflow advisory is in place for the Upper Fraser river basin, which covers the area east of Prince George, as well as the Peace Region, which includes areas around Hudson’s Hope, Chetwynd, Tumbler Ridge, Dawson Creek, Fort St. John and more.

A flood watch remains in place for a handful of basins including the Middle Fraser/Chilcotin region tributaries east of Lillooet and Williams Lake. Flood watches also cover the communities of Quesnel and Hixon.

The alerts come as the forecast is calling for precipitation across the BC interior through Sunday. Heavy rain is forecasted Saturday (June 21) for south-east BC in the Rocky Mountains, Purcell Mountains, and across to the typical lee side of the Coast Mountains in west central and south-west BC.
