Councillor Klassen apologizes
PRINCE GEORGE – It was a step back from a comment made during a previous meeting with respect to the media.
It was a conversation that arose from a motion to commit $100,000 to resume City advertising in the Prince George Citizen, with Councillor Trudy Klassen suggesting that other local media derived their content from that publication.
At the conclusion of last night’s meeting, Klassen apologised for the misstep.
“At the last meeting, I mistakenly said that the Prince George Citizen was the only local media outlet that conducts investigative journalism, overlooking the valuable investigative journalism conducted by other media outlets. I would like to correct the record and I regret if any harm was caused. I deeply value our local media’s role in promoting transparencry and I am committed to supporting their efforts.”
