PRINCE GEORGE – After a successful “Lagos in PG” event held on February 28, 2025, the organization Afro PG is excited to announce “Lagos in PG 2.0.” Afro PG is a relatively new organization, having been founded in 2022, and its Director Offiah Chivuike Patrick says the group is all about celebrating Prince George’s diversity and unique cultures within the city.

“Afro PG is an African organization, we organize events from parties to talk shows and even sports. It’s the first of its kind in Prince George. Giving voices to magnify black voices, basically, that’s what we are,” said Patrick.

The event will be held on July 4 at the Canadian Brewhouse, starting at 9:00 p.m. Patrick explained “Lagos in PG 2.0” is proudly organized and run entirely by the black community, as he says a huge focus of the event, and Afro PG as a whole, is all about celebrating Prince George’s cultural diversity.

“Everybody from the acts to performances to the services we employed, we are all black people. So just kind of giving them a voice so the people know that we are in Prince George, we have a lot of black people and we haven’t even scratched the surface in terms of what we can achieve. This is just like one of the first steps to getting people to know that we exist in Prince George,” Patrick said.

“We are going to magnify our voices, we’re going to be heard, definitely,” he continued.

While the cultural aspect and celebrating Prince George’s black community is certainly a huge focus, Patrick adds it is also just a really fun night, as the first Lagos in PG event saw strong turnout and a lot of positive feedback.

“People are proud to be black, we have to celebrate our diverse culture and make know that we are proud of who we are,” Patrick said.

Patrick says the max capacity is 200 people, and it is already halfway sold out, so he encourages anyone interested to buy their tickets now. You can do so at the Canadian Brew House itself, or by reaching out to Afro PG’s Instagram.
