Road rehab season is upon us

PRINCE GEORGE – It is one of the major road work projects of the season. Repaving Winnipeg Street, a major thoroughfare in this city.

“So Winnipeg will be milled on July 3rd and subsequently paved on July 9th,” says Jordan Wideman, Manager of Roads and Fleet. “So it should there will be some traffic disruptions, but it should be relatively minimal. It will be paved during the day. So that will create a little bit of congestion. But it’s unfortunately, it’s just one of those things.”

Another area that has caught Council’s attention. Sidewalks.

“So we are replacing a significant piece of sidewalk, basically from 15th Avenue, just shy of Ferry. And that work will be going on for approximately three more weeks. So the west side of our speaker, we’ve put in concrete wheelchair ramps and we’re redoing the hard surface. “

Here are some notable plans for paving that will likely disrupt traffic:

*Ferry Avenue @ Simon Fraser Bridge;

*5th Ave between Quebec and Brunswick Streets;

*Highway 97 @ Simon Fraser Bridge to Sintich Road;

*Tabor Boulevard between 5th and 15th Avenue

Wiseman outlines yet another big project that may cause some consternation.

“We’re going to be doing some paving on Fifth and 15th. Those ones just because of the traffic volumes and where they’re going to be at. We’ll be doing those ones on our night shift. But yes, other than that, we’ve done some work on Foothills. We’ve done the section of Ferry and then there’s a bunch of like we’ll call it residential areas that have been done as well and will continue to be done until roughly October.”
