Ground broken on $26M low-barrier housing complex
PRINCE GEORGE – In a significant move to tackle the pressing need for accessible housing, Carrier Sekani Family Services (CSFS), in collaboration with the Province through BC Housing, Indigenous Services Canada (ISC), and Yellowridge Construction, celebrated a groundbreaking ceremony Friday for a new low-barrier housing complex in downtown Prince George. This initiative aims to provide safe, culturally supportive homes for Indigenous young families and individuals.
The new complex, located at 611 Brunswick Street, will offer 45 units of affordable, low-barrier housing tailored to the unique needs of Indigenous community members, particularly those struggling with systemic barriers to stable housing. The development will also include units specifically for Elders, and on-site support will be available for younger residents.
The construction of the 611 Brunswick Housing Complex is slated for completion in Winter 2026, with an estimated project cost of around $26,154,414.
