Weekend crashes claim four lives

PRINCE GEORGE — Four people were killed in three highway crashes over the weekend in our region.

North District RCMP say the first fatal crash occurred on Friday, July 11 due to a two-vehicle head-on-crash on Highway 16 near Cluculz Lake at 3:30 p.m.

Police say the crash involved a Nissan and a Sierra pickup with the driver of the Nissan announced deceased at the scene. The two occupants of the Sierra pickup suffered non-life threatening injuries with the cause of the crash unknown at this time.

The second fatal crash occurred at approximately 4:35 p.m. on Highway 16 and the Tete Jaune Cache junction on July 11. RCMP say a Volkswagen Golf rolled over – killing two people and injuring two others. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.

On Saturday, July 12 a third fatal crash occurred at approximately 5:20 p.m. at Highway 97 and Mountain House Road (about 8 kilometres north of Wildwood).

Police say a Toyota Camry pulled out in front of a Chevy pickup, killing the driver of the Camry and injuring three others in the Camry.

RCMP note the investigation is ongoing and police believe that speed and alcohol may have contributed to the crash.
