City to provide $40,000 in funding for 2026 Olympic Trials

PRINCE GEORGE — City council has approved providing $40,000 in funding to the Caledonia Nordic Ski Club for the 2026 Canadian Olympic Cross Country Ski Trials.

On June 20, 2025, it was announced that the Caledonia Nordic Ski Club was chosen to host the Nordiq Canada 2026 Olympic Winter GamesTrials in December. The City was asked to be a funding partner alongside the Province of B.C. and Tourism Prince George.

Mayor Simon Yu said the decision was a “no-brainer.”

All councillors voted in favour of providing the funding to the Caledonia Nordic Ski Club for the Olympic trials.
