PRINCE GEORGE – It’s a rare sighting in this region, but a BC Green Party member is in Northern BC. Leadership hopeful Dr. Jonathan Kerr has been making the rounds, visiting Prince George and Quesnel this week.

He was at Books and Company speaking with the party faithful. His message was clear. “I’ll be rolling out my platform throughout the summer,” says Dr Kerr.

“We started with our environmental and climate platform. We want to make sure that we have the best platform here in terms of climate in the province, but we also want to focus on the economy and creating really well-paying jobs, making sure we have enough doctors and affordable housing.”

In the last provincial election, the BC Greens ran candidates in all three local ridings. The results weren’t great, but Kerr is optimistic. “There are lots of Greens that live in Prince George, live in Quesnel, live in the area, and I’m looking forward to meeting them and hearing from them.”

Kerr admits he is on a bit of a membership drive.

“As I understand it, this is a one-per-one member, one vote election system. And so it’s really incumbent upon the candidates to get out and meet as many people as possible, sell as many memberships as possible.”

The results of the race will be released September 24th.
