PRINCE GEORGE — UPDATE: Prince George RCMP has confirmed courthouse operations have resumed and that Thursday morning’s bomb threat was deemed to be false.

“Police officers will be allowing people back into the downtown area, the Courthouse and the surrounding businesses. We thank everyone for their cooperation in staying away from downtown while we conducted our investigation,” states Cpl. Jennifer Cooper, Media Relations Officer for the Prince George RCMP.

The investigation is ongoing as RCMP work to determine who made the false call to the Courthouse this morning.

Williams Lake RCMP confirm the courthouse there was also briefly closed Thursday due to a bomb threat in that community.

RCMP say there is no longer any concern for public safety.

The last bomb threat at the Prince George Courthouse was in July, 2024.

Earlier: Prince George RCMP is advising residents to stay clear of downtown following a potential bomb threat at the Prince George Courthouse at 250 George Street.

“Multiple roads are blocked off between Third Avenue and Second Avenue and between George Street and Queensway. Please obey police officers and bylaw officers as they redirect all pedestrian and vehicle traffic away from that area,” states Cpl. Jennifer Cooper, Media Relations Officer for the Prince George RCMP.

The courthouse has been evacuated. Cooper says the potential threat came in just before 10 a.m. Thursday morning. Updates will be made as they come available.
