PRINCE GEORGE – There were high hopes coming into last weekend as event organizers expected a good turnout for the first Prince George video game expo. Though the event started slow it quickly ramped up as the weekend progressed. Game Quest Social media manager Mackenzie Oakley-Hammell said that the event was a success and introduced many newcomers to the gaming culture and furthermore is highly optimistic about the future of the event.

“It honestly went spectacularly, lots of fun to be had lots of great things going on. The set up went well, and I feel like everybody was generally happy with it. It was a lot of people showing up, especially once we got that, lost a little bit of time there where it was open entry for everybody. It definitely brought a lot more people who might not have been interested before, but definitely would be interested in next year after seeing what we had going on. ” said Oakley-Hammell.

For many of the participating businesses it was an opportunity to show of their products, network and develop some interest. Co-founders of All Around Gamerz Nick Rathman and Josh Croxen say the event connected them with the gaming community and the exposure to potential new customers may help improve business.

“I think it went pretty good. We had people playing VR literally the entire time as soon as we opened right until close. I got to chat with lots of parents about birthday parties and network with other local businesses. I think it was definitely good to connect with the gamer community and we’ll see what results come in terms of extra business and everything but that’s all good. We are always down to support local events like this. ” said Rathman.

Looking on to next years VGPG event organizers are looking to go bigger and better.
