LANGLEY, B.C. — Rookie striker Josh Jordan scored twice to lead the UNBC men’s soccer team to its first-ever 3-0 start in Canada West program history.

Friday night in Langley, the TWolves beat the Trinity Western Spartans 3-2, despite trailing by a goal on two different occasions before the hour mark. Jordan’s game winner came in the 68th minute and Steve Simonson’s side held on to pick up another three points.

The UNBC men will try to complete the weekend sweep against the Spartans this evening. They’re scheduled to kickoff at 7:15 p.m.

Over in women’s soccer action, UNBC is still searching for its first win of the year.

They were beaten 1-0 by the Fraser Valley Cascades in Abbotsford Saturday night to drop to 0-4 on the season. The Cascades completed the sweep as they also beat the TWolves on Thursday evening.

UNBC’s Johanna Rathke made nine saves to add to her conference-leading 42 in four games. The Cascades’ Addy Chen, who made four saves on the night, is a distant second with 16 saves in three games.

The Wolves women will aim to try and upset the reigning national champions UBC Thunderbirds next weekend. They’ll play at Masich Place Stadium this Friday (Sept. 5) at 6:00 p.m. and on Sunday at 12:00 p.m.
