LANGLEY, B.C. — The UNBC Timberwolves men’s soccer team couldn’t make it four wins out of four to start their Canada West campaign.

The TWolves couldn’t complete the weekend sweep as they were beaten 1-0 by the Trinity Western Spartans in Langley Saturday (Aug. 30) night to drop to 3-1 on the season.

Charles Nana scored the only goal of the game in the 43rd minute as he beat Logan Pierce from the penalty spot. Pierce and Nana collided while chasing a loose ball in the box, and the referee pointed to the spot.

Pierce finished with three saves on the night while his counterpart Yeshua Silwambe stopped two UNBC shots.

Steve Simonson’s team were reduced to ten men for the final few minutes of the game after Charlie Beauvais was shown a red card for a heavy challenge just outside the Timberwolves’ penalty area in the 87th minute.

The UNBC men will be Island bound next weekend to face the Victoria Vikes in a two match set Friday and Saturday, Sept. 5 and 6. The women’s team will host the defending national champion UBC Thunderbirds at Masich Place Stadium on Friday and Sunday.
