PRINCE GEORGE — The UNBC Timberwolves got another stellar performance from Johanna Rathke but they fell 5-0 to the UBC Thunderbirds in a Sunday (Sept. 7) afternoon game at Masich Place Stadium.

Rathke made a season-high 19 saves and eclipsed her previous record 17 set Friday night, giving a staggering 36 saves this weekend. The German rookie leads all Canada West goalkeepers with 78 saves from six games, 47 saves ahead of Lethbridge’s Kate Prince.

She came within two saves of tying Jordan Hall’s Canada West single-game saves record of 21 set in 2012.

The reigning national champions were once again led by Holly Whelan, who had two goals and an assist. Victoria Conkhite, Sienna Gibson and Ella Sunde (who had an assist as well) also scored UBC, who led 4-0 at half time.
