VLA resident fears for safety amid crime and drug use

Sep 11, 2025 | 3:18 PM

PRINCE GEORGE – A resident in the VLA neighbourhood is deeply concerned about her safety. She is frustrated with the persistent crime, ongoing drug use, and the hopelessness these issues create in her life. She is urging all levels of government for assistance as her quality of life continues to worsen.

This resident, who wishes to remain anonymous for safety reasons, has highlighted the increasing criminal activity in the area. She reports that she and many others in her neighbourhood are now afraid to walk the streets, even during daylight hours.

She has contacted the RCMP multiple times when toxic drug smoke has wafted into her backyard, and on occasion, it has even entered her home.

Her frustration with current laws has left her feeling like a prisoner in her own home.

City Councillor Ron Polillo understands her concerns and those of her neighbours. He states that the city’s only option regarding crime is to advocate for residents’ concerns to Provincial and Federal politicians.

Although the resident has considered relocating, she notes that this is not a feasible option at the moment.
