Have your say on budget priorities like snow removal, protective services

PRINCE GEORGE — Now is your chance to have your say on City of Prince George budget priorities for 2026.

The City has launched five check-up surveys to find out how satisfied residents are with the following services:

• Events and recreation
• Parks and trails
• Protective services
• Roads and sidewalks
• Snow removal

The five short surveys are available now until October 31 on the City website and paper versions are available at City Hall, both Prince George Public Library locations, Elder Citizens Recreation Association, Hart Pioneer Centre, and Hadih House. Participants can choose to complete one or all of the surveys and their responses will remain anonymous.

Later this fall, the citizen budget survey will open for feedback. As in previous years, the budget simulator allows participants to explore City budget allocations across various municipal services. Ratepayers can enter their property tax assessment to see how their tax dollars are distributed and adjust service levels to understand how changes would impact their tax bill. The citizen budget survey is only available online and will be available on the City website from October 1 to October 31.

In-person budget engagement

Residents are also invited to participate in person at the following events:

• Tuesday, October 7 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Prince George Public Library Bob Harkins branch
  • Join City staff to learn about the budget process and participate in surveys.
• Thursday, October 9 from 2 to 7 p.m. at the Pine Centre Mall
  • Join City staff for City Hall at the Mall across from Mr. Pretzels to learn about the budget process, participate in surveys, enter to win prizes, and have a coffee with Council members.
• Thursday, October 23 from 8:30 to 11 a.m. at the CN Centre
  • Join City staff for a walk and talk during CN Centre indoor walking to learn about the budget process and how you can get involved.

All community feedback will be shared with City Council ahead of budget deliberations which will begin in December 2025. Get more information on the City website.
