To Your Health: Stop the bleed
PRINCE GEORGE – When confronted with life-threatening bleeding, the first and most important action is to apply direct pressure to the wound immediately. This can be done using your hands or any materials you have available. This week on “To Your Health,” we will explore the fundamentals of how to effectively assist someone who is experiencing severe bleeding.
If you encounter someone who is bleeding, it’s best for them to press directly on the wound with their hands to help control the bleeding. If they are unable to do so, you should step in and apply direct pressure yourself.
Bleeding can occur in various forms, and each type requires a specific treatment approach. The location of the bleeding will dictate the most appropriate method of care.
