Adopt a Senior program launched to support Meals on Wheels

PRINCE GEORGE – Every day, nearly 80 seniors in Prince George depend on the Meals on Wheels program for food assistance. In response to the rising demand, the Council of Seniors has introduced the “Adopt a Senior” initiative, encouraging community members to donate funds to help those in need.

From Monday to Friday, a dedicated cooking staff prepares and packages nearly 80 meals, ready for delivery by volunteers to seniors who are unable to cook for themselves. With an increasing number of seniors seeking support, the Adopt a Senior program provides a way for residents and businesses to offer financial assistance.

The Prince George Council of Seniors highlights that many of these elderly individuals struggle to access food. Most of the recipients of these meals throughout the week are homebound.

Seniors in need of meal assistance can contact the Council of Seniors to determine if they meet the eligibility criteria for the program.
