Planned Charlie Kirk vigil at UNBC forced to move

Sep 24, 2025 | 3:08 PM

PRINCE GEORGE —Update: The vigil has been moved to the King In Bible Store on 15th Avenue Friday evening starting at 6:30 p.m.

Earlier: A public memorial service for Charlie Kirk that organizers had planned on holding at the Rotary Centennial Gazebo at UNBC on Friday evening will have to be moved to another location.

The event was organized through social media posts but UNBC said it will not happen on campus because it had not been organized through UNBC’s formal processes and is not a university activity.

UNBC’s Acting President Dr. Bill Owen says all events must go through a formal approval process to ensure that they align with University policies, community standards and safety requirements and notes this proposed event did not.
