Rathke spots 13-save clean sheat as T-Wolves women’s soccer team earns first point of the season

PRINCE GEORGE — The University of Northern British Columbia (UNBC) Timberwolves women’s soccer team picked up their first point of the 2025 Canada West season.

Goalkeeper Johanna Rathke made 13 saves to earn the Timberwolves a scoreless draw with the University of Victoria Vikes Friday (Sept. 26). The T-Wolves peppered the Vikes with three shots on target.

Meantime, the Timberwolves men’s soccer team fell to the University of the Fraser Valley Cascades at home Friday 3-1. Mark Talisuna scored the T-Wolves’ lone goal in the 63rd minute.

The Timberwolves women’s soccer team remains at the bottom of the Canada West Pacific division with zero wins, eight losses and one draw, good for one point in nine matches.

The Timberwolves men’s soccer team is fifth in the Pacific division with three wins, five losses and two draws in 10 matches. They have a 0.367 win percentage, 0.04 per cent back of the Trinity Western Spartans for fourth. The top four teams in the Pacific division advance to the Canada West postseason quarter-finals.

Both UNBC teams are scheduled for rematches Saturday (Sept. 27) with the women remaining in Victoria to take on the Vikes at 5:00 p.m. and the men hosting the Cascades at noon from Masich Place.
