PRINCE GEORGE — The UNBC Timberwolves women’s soccer team were beaten 5-0 by the Trinity Western Spartans in the inaugural Kick for the Cure match Friday (Oct. 3) night at Masich Place Stadium.

Inspiried by the pink uniforms introduced by the women’s basketball team earlier this year, the TWolves wore special pink, cancer-themed kits adorned with the names of family, friends, colleagues, and supporters touched by the disease.

“Seeing the names of loved ones on a UNBC Women’s Soccer jersey is a powerful reminder of why we play — to honour their stories and to inspire hope as we push toward finding a cure for cancer,” Loralyn Murdoch, UNBC’s Director of Athletics and Recreation said of the initiative.

“The Kick for the Cure initiative is the first of its kind in Canada West, and we are grateful to our current players and alumni who came together to create something everlasting.”
