BCGEU strike grows as 2,600 more workers join province-wide job action

PRINCE GEORGE – Today, nearly 2,600 additional workers joined the BCGEU public service strike. Over 10,000 union members and supporters rallied in B.C. as the BCGEU expanded its strike to 48 more worksites, bringing the total number of public service workers taking action to almost 25,000 across the province. The strike now impacts key ministries, liquor and cannabis stores, and FrontCounter BC offices that deliver essential public services. The union is pushing for a 4% annual wage increase over the next two years to keep up with inflation, while the government’s offer of 2% has stalled negotiations and raised worries about potentially losing vital workers.
