PRINCE GEORGE — Terik Parascak scored twice, while Alexander Levshyn made 25 saves to help the Prince George Cougars begin Community Heroes Weekend with a win.

The Cougars beat the Tri-City Americans 3-2 Saturday (Oct. 11) night for their fifth win in six games this WHL season. The Cougars sit second in the BC Division, one point back of the Penticton Vees who have played two more games.

Parascak, the game’s first star, opened the scoring just past the four minute mark in the first period. Eleven seconds later, Aiden Foster doubled the lead just 11 seconds as Prince George took a 2-0 lead into the first intermission.

Cruz Pavao pulled one back for the Americans before Parascak restored the two goal lead midway through the middle frame. Crew Martinson brought Tri-City back to within one in the third, but the Cougars were able to hold on for the win.

Levshyn – who was named second star on the night – has won all three games he’s played in so far this season. Americans goaltender Ryan Grout was named the third star, as he stopped 33 of 36 shots in a losing effort.

The Cougars and Americans will rematch CN Centre at 2:00 p.m. Sunday (Oct. 12) afternoon. This afternoon’s game will feature the Mega 50/50 Jackpot with a guaranteed $50,000 pot to be drawn during the third period.
