Strike notice could disrupt garbage collection
PRINCE GEORGE — Possible labour pains at the Regional District of Fraser Fort George.
CUPE 1699, which represents employees at the Regional District, served the District with 72 hour strike notice on Wednesday at noon.
The Regional District says bargaining has been challenging though the District is hopeful to find a resolution that it says balances its responsiblity to taxpayers while providing a fair deal to its employees.
CUPE 1699 says both parties reached an impasse in mediation in August 2025 with workers voting overwhelmingly in favour of strike action in August. The Regional District says its request to return to mediation was rejected by CUPE.
