Chamber of Commerce receives Inclusive Growth Award

PRINCE GEORGE — The Prince George Chamber of Commerce has received a national award.

The chamber received the Inclusive Growth Award in recognition of its ongoing partnership with the Lheidli T’enneh First Nation at the Canadian Chamber of Commerce’s recent annual general meeting.

The award recognizes chambers, businesses and leaders that are breaking down barriers and advancing economic inclusion for underrepresented groups in Canada’s business community.

The Prince George Chamber of Commerce signed a formal partnership agreement with the Lheidli T’enneh First Nation in 2022 in which both parties committed to meeting regularly and working together to develop “a sustainable environment that supports a healthy economy and a high quality of life for the betterment” of the community and the region.

Earlier this year, Prince George Chamber of Commerce members voted to amend its bylaw so the elected chief of the Lheidli T’enneh First Nation had the authority – along with the mayor of the City of Prince George – to swear in the Chamber’s board of directors. At the Chamber’s 2025 annual general meeting, Chief Logan exercised that authority for the first time in the Prince George Chamber’s 114-year history.

“The Prince George Chamber of Commerce is proud of its ongoing partnership with the Lheidli T’enneh and how it is continuing to grow and evolve,” Godbout said in a release. “It was such an honour to accept this award with Chief Logan and members of council in recognition of our work together.”
