PRINCE GEORGE – To the residents living near John McInnis School, please don’t be alarmed if you see police officers, firefighters, and paramedics at the school this weekend; it’s just a recruiting event!

On October 26, 2025, the school will host the second installment of this event, designed to introduce grade 11 and 12 students to the various aspects of being a First Responder.

Students considering a career as a First Responder will have the opportunity to speak with active firefighters, police officers, and paramedics while gaining hands-on experience across several key areas of each profession.

Throughout the day, students will rotate through three stations, where they will learn about the exciting elements of First Responder careers. Some of the activities include donning fire rescue gear and using high-pressure hoses, learning to stop a traumatic bleed and manage airways, and understanding arrest and handcuff procedures.

Adventures with First Responders is a collaborative initiative between B.C. Emergency Health Services, Prince George Fire Rescue Service, Prince George RCMP, School District 57, and the Yellowhead Rotary Club of Prince George.
