PRINCE GEORGE — More programming cuts at the College of New Caledonia (CNC).

CNC has confirmed to CKPG News that the College’s Board of Governors voted to cancel eight programs at a meeting on Thursday (Oct24).

Here are the affected programs:

  • ABT Admin Assistant
  • ABT Online Office Clerk
  • ABT Online Office Assistant
  • Social Service Worker Applied Diploma
  • Post Diploma Human Resources Management
  • Post Diploma Tourism and Hotel Management
  • Kinesiology Diploma
  • Applied Science Engineering Certificate

This after three programs were cancelled in February. A statement from the College says it’s too soon to say how many jobs will be affected.

The College says the cancellations are in response to an $8 million revenue shortfall, caused by a decline in international student enrolment.

The College says the decision followed a thorough and comprehensive review process noting each program was evaluated based on key criteria, including enrolment trends, financial sustainability, labour market demand and potential for future growth.

A statement from the College reads in part:

We recognize that these changes are difficult. However, they are necessary to ensure CNC’s long-term sustainability and our ability to continue offering high-quality, relevant programs that prepare students for meaningful careers and contribute to the vitality of communities across the North.”
