PRINCE GEORGE — The City of Prince George has begun to clear and remediate Moccasin Flats Friday (Oct.24).

This after a successful application by the City to close the encampment in August. The BC Supreme Court authorized the immediate closure of the site to all but approximately 20 people who had been at the encampment since the beginning of July.

As of Friday, it’s believed just one person was still living there. BC Housing has been working with current and past residents of the site to connect these individuals with housing.

The City first sought to close the site in 2021 but was rebuked by the court, prompting the City to bring in more transitional and low barrier housing to the city.
