PRINCE GEORGE — The Prince George Cougars scored five unanswered goals to double up the Seattle Thunderbirds 6-3 at CN Centre Friday (Oct. 24) night.

The B.C. Division-leading Cougars trailed 3-1 at one point during the opening period, but they clawed their way back to winning ways in the WHL to improve to 8-3-0-0.

The top line of Dmitri Yakutsneak, Terik Parascak, and Brock Souch led the charge for the Cougars as they combined for 10 points. Goaltender Joshua Ravensbergen did his part as well, as he turned aside 33 of 36 shots to pick up his fifth win of the season.

Seattle raced to a 2-0 lead after goals from 16-year-old Brock England and Vanek Popil just 27 seconds apart in the first period. Arsenii Anisimov cut the lead to one at the seven minute mark, though the Thunderbirds were back up by two just 16 seconds later.

While Simon Lovsin redirected a point shot to make it 3-1, there was no quit in the Cougars as captain Bauer Dumanski stuck on the powerplay to send the two teams into the dressing room with the score at 3-2.

From there, it was all Prince George as the Cougars got second period goals from Parascak and two from Yakutsneak, and a third period marker from Souch to seal the comeback win.

Thunderbirds goaltender Marek Sklenicka stopped 35 of 41 shots in a losing effort Friday night.

The two teams will rematch at the CN Centre at 6:00 p.m. Saturday (Oct. 25) evening.
