Union members halt illegal dumping cleanups and fee collection amid ongoing strike
PRINCE GEORGE – As of 7:00 a.m. Tuesday, members of CUPE Local 1699 have escalated their job action.
Union members will no longer perform illegal dumping cleanups at any site, including remote or unstaffed locations, or at dumping outside Regional District of Fraser-Fort George facility gates or boundaries. They’ve also stopped collecting fees or accepting payments at the reception and service centre on George Street.
Ongoing strike actions remain in effect. CUPE 1699 members continue to refuse training managers or exempt employees, except where required under essential services. In addition, there will be no fee collection at several regional sites, including the Foothills and Mackenzie Landfills, Valemount and Vanway Transfer Stations, and the Robson Valley and Canoe Valley Recreation Centres.
