MACKENZIE – The Mackenzie Chamber of Commerce is preparing for its 23rd annual auction. Taking place on November 15 at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 273, the auction will begin at 6:00 p.m. and showcase a wide variety of Northern B.C. communities and their artisans.

“We’ve got ski lift tickets, golf passes, wine package from Northern Lights Winery, and we’ve got art. We’ve got some ski lift tickets for Smithers, we’ve got some for Powder King, so it’ll be all over the place. And then we’ve got Vancouver Canucks tickets. So it showcases B.C., but it really showcases our Northern B.C. area and the beautiful area that we live in,” said the Chamber’s Executive Director Tracy Medley.

Other items, including hand crafted furniture, Prince George Spruce Kings tickets, fishing packes, and more, will also be available. This is on top of local food trucks and artisans also being there, further highlighting Northern B.C communities and what they have to offer.

“One of the donations is a beautiful wood wine rack made from a local builder, and it’s all wood made from repurposed bridge wood, so bridges that have been taken out, forestry road bridges, and he makes different furniture from this wood. Every piece has got a little QR code, so you can see the details of what bridge it was from or where it was from,” Medley said.

The wine wood rack Medley was discussing.

All the funds raised go directly towards supporting the Chamber and its programs, so the money you spend will be put straight back into the community.

“Through the funds that we raise, we are able to keep staff on to further support those businesses, whether it’s giving businesses connections to community futures or to other grant opportunities. We also can offer workshops that will give you a little extra skills to make your business better equipped to handle the different things. We also operate our visitor centre here in town, so those funds raised will help us hire employees who are excited about MacKenzie and the great wilderness area that we live in to showcase what they’ve got and showcase the businesses that we have in town,” Medley said.

Entry to the auction is $5 and is ages 19 and up, as there will be a bar.
