SEATTLE — Bauer Dumanski scored the overtime winner as the Prince George Cougars came away with a thrilling come-from-behind 4-3 win over the Seattle Thunderbirds Saturday (Nov. 1) night.

The Cougars captain scored 3:13 into the extra frame to snap a two game losing streak. It also helped the Cougars come back from a two goal deficit as they improve to 9-5 to sit second in the WHL’s Western Conference.

The Cougars struck first through Kayden Lemire just 42 seconds into Saturday’s contest at the accesso ShoWare Center. Kooper Gizowski continued his hot start as a Cougar as he has a point in all 14 games so far this season.

It was the home team that scored the next three goals as Antonio Martorana, Brayden Holberton, and Tai Riley had Seattle up 3-1 at the 13:57 mark of the second period.

But goals from Dmitri Yakutsenak at 15:20 of the second and Carson Carels at 6:51 of the third period brough the Cougars back even at 3-3. Neither team was then able to find a winner in regulation.

In overtime, Terik Parascak fed Bauer Dumanski, who ripped a wrist shot over Marek Sklenicka’s shoulder and into the top corner to secure the Cougars’ ninth win of the season.

Josh Ravensbergen was outstanding between the pipes as he turned aside a season-high 39 shots in the victory. Sklenicka stopped 25 of 29 shots in a losing effort.

Next up for the Cougars on their six game road swing is a game against the Vancouver Giants. Puck drop from the Langley Events Centre is at 4:00 p.m.
