Sasaki’s four point night leads Spruce Kings to win over Salmon Arm

PRINCE GEORGE — Kazumo Sasaki’s four point night helped the Prince George Spruce Kings to a 4-1 win over the Salmon Arm Silverbacks in BCHL action Saturday (Nov. 1) night at Kopar Memorial Arena.

Tai Ushio had a goal and two assists, while Ryder Green made 26 saves to help the Spruce Kings improve to 7-5 on the season. They’re fifth in the Coastal Conference with 14 points from 12 games.

Goals from Dracen Campbell and Fraser Leonard had Prince George up 2-0 less than seven minutes into Saturday’s contest. Liam Bursaw responded for the Silverbacks on the power play before the halfway mark of the opening period as he beat Green to make it 2-1.

Marcus Lougheed scored the only goal of the second period at 10:57 on the power play, before Ushio added another insurance marker with the only goal of the third period at 5:01.

With seven goals and 21 points, Sasaki is tied for the league lead in points, while Ushio (nine goals and 19 points) is in fourth place.

The Spruce Kings will look to make it three wins in a row when they face the Langley Rivermen in a Sunday (Nov. 2) matinee at Kopar Memorial Arena. Puck drop is scheduled for 3:00 p.m.

Fans in attendance will be able to skate with the team after the game.
