Canadians await details on affordable housing as Liberals push for support
PRINCE GEORGE – The federal Liberal minority government unveiled Budget 2025 yesterday, outlining significant investments in infrastructure, housing, and defence amid growing global challenges. A local political scientist says passing the budget will be an early test of Prime Minister Mark Carney’s leadership.
Moments after the budget was unveiled in Parliament, Canadians were eager to find out what it meant for them. Prince George City Councillor and UBCM president Cori Ramsay said the plan includes many familiar promises, but she’s waiting to see more details on significant issues like affordable housing.
“So that is one thing that we’re going to be watching closely for further details. The other piece is the federal government is also launching a new housing program, Build Canada Homes, that will aim to build new homes on public lands.”
