Parkade opening delayed

PRINCE GEORGE — The opening of the new UHNBC parkade has been delayed.

It was originally scheduled to open on Monday, November 10, 2025 but that timeline is currently being reviewed with an update expected next week with the revised opening date.

“Pre-opening activities required to ensure the safety and functionality of the parkade are still in progress,” says Northern Health. “These steps are essential to meet safety standards and must be completed before the facility can open.”

Northern Health says it apologizes for any inconvenience this may cause. The parkade is located next to the BC Cancer Centre for the North.

Northern Health says the UHNBC parkade is part of the Early Works phase of the UHNBC Acute Care Tower project. This phase also includes the deconstruction and relocation of the Northern Interior Health Unit (NIHU).

The total budget for the Early Works phase is $103 million, which is included within the overall $1.68 billion budget for the full Acute Care Tower project.
