Baukin, Kibonge, Sunga lead TWolves to win over Spartans

PRINCE GEORGE — Evgeny Baukin had a game-high 21 points as the UNBC Timberwolves beat the Trinity Western Spartans 75-65 in Canada West men’s basketball action.

Tony Kibonge added 19 points in the Friday (Nov. 7) game at the Northern Sport Centre, while Justin Sunga had a double-double with 10 points and a career and program-best 12 assists to help UNBC move to 2-2.

The TWolves, who led 45-32 at the half, were a remarkable 16-33 from long range as Sunga led the way with six three-pointers.

Elsewhere, the 0-4 UNBC women remain winless as they dropped a 64-51 decision to the Spartans at the Northern Sport Centre. Viktoriia Filatova led the way with a season-best 20 for UNBC, who led 28-22 at the half.
