STATELINE, NV — A heartbreaking loss for Kamloops skip Matt Dunstone at the KIOTI Grand Slam of Curling Tahoe in Lake Tahoe.

Team Dunstone lost 7-6 to Scotland’s Bruce Mouat in Sunday’s (Nov. 9) final that had to be decided by a shootout, which Mouat took by 0.3 of centimetre. Dunstone drew to the button and was 9.8 cm from the pinhole, while Mouat’s rock was 9.5 cm away.

The shootout was needed as Dunstone missed on his last shot in the eighth end to allow Mouat to score two to tie their final at 6-6. Dunstone scored two in the seventh end of a back and forth game to lead 6-4 after he dislodged Mouat’s shot rock.

“We can’t lie – this one hurts,” Team Dunstone said in a post on social media. “We’re proud of the way we showed up all week as a team.”
