Cougars beat Royals in Remembrance Day matchup

PRINCE GEORGE — Joshua Ravensbergen blocked 31 of 32 shots to help the Prince George Cougars defeat the visiting Victoria Royals 3-1 on Tuesday afternoon before 4,144 fans at the CN Centre.

Cole Hajt, Kayden Lemire, and Terik Parascak scored the goals for Prince George. Roan Woodward scored the lone marker for the visitors.

Lemire’s fifth goal of the year at the 19:21 mark of the second period turned out to be the game winner while Parascak’s 12th goal of the year into the empty net with just over a minute left in the game sealed the win. Hajt’s goal was his first of the season.

With the win, the Cougars improved their record to 12-7, good for second place in the WHL’s Western Conference. Victoria fell to 9-6-2-1. They are tied for third in the Western Conference with the Penticton Vees.

The teams meet again Wednesday night at the CN Centre at 7 p.m.
