Cougars knock off Blazers at home for third win in a row

PRINCE GEORGE — The Prince George Cougars beat the Kamloops Blazers 3-2 in a Friday (Nov. 14) meeting at CN Centre to make it three wins in a row in the WHL.

The Cougars took the lead on three occasions last night – though Cole Hajt at 3:18 of the first period, Terik Parascak at 15:07 of the first, and Aiden Foster at 14:18 of the second period.

The Blazers were only able to bounce back on two of those occasions as Kayd Ruedig scored at 13:51 of the first to make it a 1-1 affair and just 28 seconds into the second period on a power play to make it 2-2.

Both of Ruedig’s goals were shots from distance that beat Joshua Ravensbergen in the Cougars’ net. Ravensbergen stopped 21 of 23 to pick up the win.

In the other net, Blazers goaltender Logan Edmonstone stopped 25 of 28 shots to pick up the loss.

The Cougars lead the BC Division by seven points. The 14-7 Cougars also sit in second place in the Western Conference. The 8-9-2-2 Blazers have lost three in a row and sit seventh in the Western Conference will 20 points from 21 games.

This was the Cougars only game of the weekend, as they now turn their attention towards next weekend’s home doubleheader against Lethbridge on Friday (Nov. 21) and Edmonton on Saturday (Nov. 22).

Saturday’s game is Cougars Fight Cancer night, featuring the second Online MEGA 50/50 jackpot of the season.The Cougars will also were special pink jerseys which will then be auctioned to raise money for cancer research.
