Life-saving devices in every school

New policy ensures life-saving devices in every school, costs covered by district

PRINCE GEORGE – During their meeting on Tuesday, November 18, the School District 57 Board of Education officially adopted a new policy that mandates all schools to have automated external defibrillators (AEDs) and naloxone readily available.

This action aligns with updated guidelines from BC’s Ministry of Education that came into effect this summer. Under these new directives, school districts are required to implement policies regarding the accessibility of AEDs and naloxone within their facilities.

Some school officials noted that all district high schools already had these essential life-saving devices in place. As part of this new policy, the school district will cover the costs of maintaining the AEDs and naloxone, rather than placing that financial burden on individual schools.
