PRINCE GEORGE — The B.C. Ministry of Emergency Management is cautioning people to be prepared as winter weather begins to roll over the province.

The ministry says in a statement that people should take steps to winterize their homes such as adding insulation and measures to prevent pipes from freezing. It adds people should also have a home emergency plan ready and be prepared with extra blankets and flashlights in case of power outages.

Drivers are also being asked to be mindful of changing road conditions, with one snowfall warning currently active in British Columbia. It’s in the Yellowhead with 10 to 15 cm of snow expected by tonight in the area that includes McBride and Valemount.

“A slow moving cold front will bring 10-15 cm of snow for the Northern sections of Yellowhead,,” Environment Canada said in the warning. “Snow will begin around mid afternoon and taper off before Sunday morning.”
