UNBC women beat Fraser Valley for first win of 2025-26 season
ABBOTSFORD — The UNBC Timberwolves women’s basketball team are finally in the win column this season.
The TWolves knocked off the Fraser Valley Cascades 68-63 in a Friday (Nov. 21) night game in Abbotsford. The TWolves are now 1-7, while the Cascades are 2-6.
Viktoriia Filatova poured in a game-high 25 points to lead UNBC’s offense, though the Cascades would not go down without a fight. The two teams were tied at 59-59 with a little over three minutes to play before Filatova’s heroics helped the TWolves seal the win.
The UNBC men were beaten 89-60 to the Cascades as they were forced to play without Evgeny Baukin, the leading scorer in Canada West, as he was sidelined with an upper body injury.
