Spruce Kings wrap up five-game road trip with overtime loss to BCHL-leading Cowichan Capitals
DUNCAN, B.C. — Ryder Green made 30 saves on 33 shots but the Cowichan Valley Capitals scored in overtime to knock off the Prince George Spruce Kings 3-2 Saturday (Nov. 22) night on Vancouver Island.
The Kings picked up a point against the BCHL-leading Capitals to end a five game road trip that saw them go 3-1-1. Prince George is sixth in the Coastal Conference with a 10-9-1 record, good for 21 points from 20 games.
The Capitals got on the board first as Massimo Fazio beat Green on the glove side to make it 1-0 at 13:59 of the first period. The Spruce Kings tied the game up less than three minutes later when River Arnason poked home a loose puck in the crease.
Fazio and Dominic Szczygiel traded second period goals at the Cowichan Community Centre, before the two teams played a scoreless third. Gavin Nemis then called game with the overtime winner 2:47 into the extra frame.
