PRINCE GEORGE – The Prince George RCMP is reminding residents that keeping neighbourhoods safe is a team effort. They are offering two volunteer programs that embody the “See Something, Say Something” message.

The Block Watch program encourages neighbours to look out for one another. Residents on the same block come together to create a communication network, including a map with names and contact information.

According to the police, Block Watch is a proven and effective crime prevention tool. They emphasize that education and awareness empower residents to become strong sources of information.

Another opportunity is to become an RCMP Patrol Volunteer. These volunteers patrol the city in pairs, serving as additional eyes and ears for the police.

Mike Burt, the RCMP Patrol Volunteer Coordinator, states that these volunteers play a valuable role in enhancing community safety. All training required to become a professional witness is provided at no cost.

For more details on how to join these programs, residents can contact the RCMP’s Community Policing Section. Remember, if you see something, say something.
