IIO clears RCMP regarding Victoria Street incident

Nov 27, 2025 | 3:07 PM

PRINCE GEORGE — The Independent Investigations Office(IIO) has cleared the RCMP of any wrongdoing concerning an incident in Prince George last April where a man was injured while being arrested.

Shortly before midnight on April 9, 2025, police received a call from staff at a supportive housing facility in the 1500-block of Victoria Street regarding a suspected intoxicated man walking around the property with a firearm.

The man was arrested and suffered a serious but non life threatening injury. The IIO says there are no reasonable grounds to believe that any officer may have committed an offence. Due to concurrent court proceedings related to the incident, the IIO’s public report will not be released on the IIO website until that process has concluded.

The affected person in the report was not named by the IIO.
