Nonprofit marks 50 years of mobility support with new seasonal services

PRINCE GEORGE -For over fifty years, a nonprofit organization in Prince George has been dedicated to ensuring that residents can travel safely, reliably, and with dignity. Today, we spotlight the Carefree Society, an organization that continues to adapt and grow in response to the community’s evolving needs.

For over 50 years, the Carefree Society has supported individuals with mobility challenges in Prince George. Originally focused on transportation assistance, it has become a community cornerstone. This month, they’re enhancing their transportation service to better meet the needs of those they serve during the holiday season.

“This month, we’re going to be doing something called cruising PG. We’re going to do a festive lights tour.” says Christos Vardacostas, Executive Director, Carefree Society.

The society has a bus that can be easily customized to enhance passenger comfort.

The organization is recognized as a leader in providing specialized and accessible transportation. The unique tours offered during the holiday season come with added perks, especially when enjoyed in a group setting.

“These are pre-scheduled tours. Hopefully, within 24 hours, we’ll have established who will be on board. And with that, we can modify things in a couple of minutes.”  adds Christos

As a nonprofit, Carefree focuses on efficiency and quality rather than profit.
