PRINCE GEORGE – On this week’s To Your Health, we are taking a closer look at a medication that has been making headlines around the world, Ozempic. You may have heard of it, but what exactly is it, and why is it garnering so much attention?

Ozempic is a prescription medication that was originally developed to help adults manage type 2 diabetes. Health professionals have observed that individuals using Ozempic often experience significant weight loss. This medication is administered through an injection.

There is another weight-loss medication specifically designed to promote weight loss, with effects similar to those of Ozempic.

“There’s also another brand name called Wegovy that contains semaglutide as well. Wegovy is more targeted to weight loss with its dosing. That’s available. So there are multiple different pens that administer the appropriate dose. Whereas Ozempic is a bit more limited in terms of pen availability and the number of injections you might need to achieve the dose you need.
