Cougars top Blazers in B.C. division battle
PRINCE GEORGE — The Kamloops Blazers struck first on Saturday night, but four unanswered goals from the Cougars completed the weekend sweep for Prince George.
Tommy Lafreniere got the scoring started in the second period with his 22nd of the season. PG would strike back just before the end of the frame with two quick goals, first from Lee Shurgot, and then in the final minute Kooper Gizowski gave the Cougars a lead they would never relinquish. 2-1.
Prince George would again wait until late in the third to add to their lead with two goals in the final minute of the contest, separated by just 9 seconds. Dmitri Yakutsenak netted one on the powerplay, but Arsenii Anisimov potted some insurance right off the next face-off.
Alexander Levshyn made 22 stops for the win, Logan Edmonstone turned aside 36 in a losing effort.
