Ridesharing company offering free rides on Christmas day

PRINCE GEORGE — U-Ride – a ridesharing service that provides transportation in and around Prince George – is in the holiday spirit.

The company is offering free rides on Christmas day – an initiative that falls under its Good Deeds Program.

“I guess throughout the course of my life – I’ve had so many people help me when I’ve been in tough spots and this and that. So, from the moment we started Uride, we basically took a portion of the money every month and we would just do good deeds across the community,” says Founder and CEO Cody Ruberto.

He says some months that could mean buying families groceries, or supporting the local humane society. Ruberto says the bottom line is that they’re huge believers in good deeds and want to make a difference and do nice things for people.

“During the holidays, it’s tough for a lot of people. Things are super expensive, and you have the pressure of holidays and gifts and all these things. And one thing we want to make sure is everyone has a ride to and from Christmas dinner. Basically, there shouldn’t be anything holding you back from spending time with your family, your friends, your loved ones. And so we wanted to make it a little bit easier for anyone that might be struggling and could use some free rides on Christmas day.”

Ruberto says Uride has offered free rides at Christmas for a couple of years and says the response has been amazing. He says Uride focuses on mid-sized to smaller communities across the country and notes they’ve already had over 10,000 people reach out for free rides so far this year.

“It’s been wild. And it’s been going up every minute. We’re getting more and more people reaching in. So, hopefully we’re going to help a lot of people over the holidays.”

Ruberto said any individuals in need, or those wishing to nominate someone else, can email support@uridetech.com with the subject line “Free Christmas Rides” to get your code. Eligible participants will receive two promo codes, each covering a ride of up to $25 on Christmas day. The codes can be used for a ride to and from Christmas dinner using the Uride app.
