Spruce Kings fall to Interior Conference-leading Bulldogs in Blackfalds
BLACKFALDS, ALTA — The Prince George Spruce Kings were no match for the Blackfalds Bulldogs, as the Interior Conference-leading Bulldogs came away with a 7-3 win Saturday (Jan. 3) night.
The Bulldogs led 3-2 after one period at the Eagle Builders Centre as goals from Ben Vreugdenhil and Carter Hesselgrave kept PG in the contest. Vreugdenhil added another goal in the second to round out the scoring for the Spruce Kings.
The Bulldogs went on to score two goals each in the second and third period to come away with the four goal victory.
Ryder Green allowed seven goals on 29 shots in 50:23 of action. Colin Reay stopped all six shots he faced in 9:37 of relief work. Caron Mertz picked up the win for Blackfalds with 20 saves on 23 shots.
