PRINCE GEORGE — The Prince George Spruce Kings made it two wins out of two this weekend, as they shut out the Langley Rivermen 4-0 at Kopar Memorial Arena Saturday (Jan. 10) night.

Ryder Green made 23 saves to record his first shutout of the BCHL season, while four different players found the back of the net for Prince George.

“It was definitely a bounce back weekend for us as a group and for me personally as well, last week wasn’t my best and I wanted to step it up and I did,” Green said post-game.

Marcus Lougheed opened the scoring at 4:34 of the first period. Spencer Masters and Michael Denney added second period power play goals, before Tai Ushio rounded out the scoring at 7:32 of the third.

Lougheed and Ushio also picked up an assist each as the Spruce Kings improved to 18-13-1-0, to sit second in the Coastal East Division. The third-place Rivermen dopped to 17-16-0-0, and trail Prince George by three points.

The Spruce Kings are off next weekend as the BCHL hosts its all-star weekend in Spruce Grove.

They’ll resume play on Vancouver Island next weekend with games against the Victoria Grizzlies and the Alberni Valley Bulldogs on Jan. 23 and 24. They’re back at Kopar Memorial Arena on Jan. 30 when the Surrey Eagles come to town.
